We're looking for Senior R&D Construction Engineer. Based at our Gronau site, you'll play a key engineering role in the research, design and develop test equipment for UF6 Operations (new and existing build) and decommissioning projects (industry standard) for the Urenco global team. The role will support the product line lead(s) in running the associated technology and processes, building the requisite capabilities and knowledge.

What you'll do:

- Design and develop mechanical 3D models for e.g. test rigs, vacuum systems, flexible automation (robotic) systems
- Create concepts out of the box and support the team to realize new concepts and ideas (Being creative is your strength)
- Specify critical component dimensions and work hand in hand with the test engineers when planning the acceptance tests
- Keep an eye on the relevant company-specific specifications and external standards (e.g. DIN EN ISO 9001, EN 60601 and EN 13485) at all times
- Preparation of risk analyses and approval documents and support with certification
- Implementation and documentation of tests and feasibility studies (capability studies) including definition of limit values
- Defining the test requirement specification together with product design team
- Support the identification of new project opportunities for the specific product line. Execute the planning, mobilisation and delivery of R&D projects, in line with agreed scope, timeframes, budgets and service levels
- Document and hand-over results of R&D projects to customer or other stakeholders. Feed into wider R&D reporting. Manage all project stakeholders and support wider stakeholder management for the product line
- Support other teams within R&D, such as decommissioning, stable isotopes/medical isotopes, chemistry
- Support in design reviews, feasibility studies where required
- Realise capability for building complex mechanical projects from an idea to prototype to execution and delivery
- Manage personal development as required to support R&D activities. Facilitate information exchange amongst SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) in the Group
- Screen new external technological developments for their relevance and potential application for the respective product line.
- Masters' degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering or equivalent industry experience
- Professional qualification e.g. (Professional Engineer PE), (CEng) (EUR ING) (beneficial)
- Experience in construction/installation/commissioning in a plant environment
- Heavy/process/chemical industry or automotive background understanding of its safety and regulatory environment
- Hands on experience with designing/integrating/testing equipment, test rigs or complex automated installations
- 3D modelling (AUTOCAD/Solidworks or similar) capability / designing mechanical / process systems
- C&I, Electrical experience in conjunction with process systems
- Experience in selecting the right technology for major projects, to satisfy technical, commercial and customer requirements using a robust methodology
- Knowledge of construction, prototyping, plant design - experience producing/reviewing P&IDs, Process flow diagrams / building layouts, electrical schematics, drawings, etc
- Take the responsibility to create concept design, develop and approve mechanical design from suppliers

- Commercial and business acumen
- Proficient (C1) in English and advantageous to have German or Dutch language skills
