With immediate effect, we are looking for an experienced Vice President (m/f/d) in fulltime for our location in Stuttgart and Munich who supports the development of the Group Portfolio and Investment Strategy and leads strategic initiatives with Portfolio Units in the Content and Publishing Segment.


  • Develop Group Portfolio Investment & Strategy with a 3-5 years view with a focus on the
    Content & Publishing Segment
  • Identify and assess innovative new growth opportunities within the Content & Publishing segment for the individual business units (Macmillan, ZEIT, Pan Macmillan, HBU)
  • Identify and analyse new business areas of interest for HPG as well as specific investment opportunities for our portfolio units. You will be involved in the subsequent implementation of these investments (e. g. through M&A, investments and partnerships)
  • Identify and lead group-wide strategic initiatives jointly with our portfolio companies, focusing on Digital/Data
  • Analyse relevant media consumptions trends and assess their impact on our portfolio business units
  • Navigate in an international set-up with colleagues in Europe and US

Hard Skills:

  • Long-term strategic thinker with a view on key success factors of the media/publishing industry
  • Extensive experience in data, tech and digital fields. Well versed in evolution of tech/digital advancements in the industry and ability to translate the impact of these trends to HPG's businesses
  • Extensive methodological skills i.e. in strategy tools, workshopping, problem solving, business models analyses (USP, competitive positioning etc.)
  • Financial skills to translate strategy into numbers/business plan understanding revenue models and margin mechanics
  • Strong execution skills to drive implementation of action plans

Personal Skills:

  • Highly analytical mind, able to challenge status quo
  • Strong negotiation skills to discuss with GER/US senior managers and agree on actions
  • Commercial/entrepreneurial mindset
  • Highly organised with good time management skills, able to adhere to deadlines and work effectively under pressure
  • Strong written/oral communication skills with ability to communicate confidently and effectively
  • Good listening skills to enable a collaborative relationship with top business leadership
  • Ability to work autonomously, with a pro-active approach and drive for results

Experience

  • At least 5 years in strategy consulting or corporate strategy of a media/publishing company
  • Preference for media industry expertise
