Record is a leading specialist currency and asset manager with $106. billion (as at end September 2024) in Assets Under Management. Record's services include currency management, asset management and sustainable finance. Our clients are largely institutions, including pension funds, charities, foundations, endowments, and family offices. The Record Group is currently in a period of expansion into the asset management space, through our German based entities – Record Asset Management GmbH, RAM Strategies GmbH and OWI-RAMS GmbH, and these provide an exciting platform for growth.
Core purpose of the role:
Record Group is keen to appoint a Finance Manager in their Frankfurt office. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of Finance for the German entities within the Record Financial Group. This includes a range of activities from bookkeeping to accounting, audit and tax, as well as managing BaFin regulatory requirements. Key areas of responsibility and activities:
Integrity of financial reporting system and activity
- Takes full control of all bookkeeping processes, including sales ledger, purchase ledger and cash book as well as nominal ledger postings and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Liaises with Management Accountant to reconcile intercompany postings.
- Executes fortnightly payment runs and ad hoc payments as required.
- Prepares monthly management accounts.
- Analyses variances against forecast and provides commentary.
- Contributes to the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes, liaising with the FP&A Associate Director.
- Manages the file preparation process for each German Group company for the YE audit and interim review, ensuring accurate and complete schedules
Monthly payroll and pension
- Liaises with and reviews payrolls produced by outsourced payroll provider.
- Ensures timely payment of all payroll-related liabilities.
- Liaises with and reviews any additional payroll related filings required.
- Ensures compliance with all German requirements.
BaFin and Bundesbank activities
- Prepares and submits monthly Z4 reporting.
- Prepares and submits quarterly STWI and GVWI reporting.
- Prepares and submits annual IFR submissions.
- Prepares and submits annual K3/K4 reports.
- All other BaFin and Bundesbank filings as required.
Annual Reporting and Audit
- Produces statutory accounts in accordance with German GAAP.
- Prepares trial balance for consolidation into the Group accounts in accordance with IFRS.
- Drafts annual management report for Board approval.
- Liaises with external auditors and manages audit process.
Taxation
- Calculates tax provisions and reviews annual corporate income tax return and trade tax returns prepared by outsourced tax advisor.
- Prepares quarterly and annual VAT returns.
- Liaises with outsourced tax advisor to establish VAT treatment of sales invoicing.
- Produces and submits European Sales Lists.
Process improvement
- Responsible for maintaining and improving current processes, procedures and formats, including the generation of ideas to the implementation of new methods of working and the maintenance of accurate system, policies and procedural notes. This will be applicable for all areas of work identified above.
We are seeking to hire a finance professional who is:
- Fluent in German and English
- Degree in accounting, business accounting, finance, business and economics, or similar
- At least 5 years of professional experience in finance and accounting
- Strong knowledge of BaFin and Bundesbank reporting requirements
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and German GAAP
- Confident analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Sage 200 Accounts, SAP Business ByDesign and Power BI experience would be helpful but not essential
- Ability to work independently, whilst liaising and reporting into a team based overseas.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Confidence and ability to work with senior colleagues within the business (in London and in other jurisdictions)
