As our new Senior Data Operations Engineer at Bauer Media Digital Publishing, you will play a pivotal role in co-creating and collaborating on the development of complex data platforms and environments and provide expert technical leadership across the entire data engineering lifecycle. Additionally, you'll engage with advanced analytics and AI topics that are critical to the entire group.
In this role, you'll work closely with various business, technical, and support departments, ensuring the seamless delivery of key data-related projects from inception to the demonstration of their added business value.

Coordinate and support cross-border projects with a focus on data platform initiatives

Leverage your technical, architectural and engineering knowledge to develop a data platform that can support multiple data products and data teams

Provide foundational building blocks and primitives that support a range of engineering capabilities

Align with central technology functions to support seamless integration into key systems, networks and infrastructures

Drive best practice around the product development lifecycle, driving maturity across product teams and ensuring the highest quality of data products

Implement and measure Service Level Objectives and operational support models for the data platform and related data products

At least 5 years' experience delivering and developing data products in technical roles, such as a DevOps/DataOps Engineer or Data Engineer

Familiarity with working in virtual teams and agile methodologies

Extensive experience around test driven development, dependency management, continuous integration and continuous delivery

Extensive experience with automation, containerization, configuration management and infrastructure as code, with one or more frameworks such as Terraform or Helm

Extensive experience with build, test and deployment of complex data engineering pipelines, supporting ingest, transformation, workflow, serving and egress with proven experience using mainstream data engineering technologies

Good experience of data architecture, data quality, data modeling and data serialization formats

Experience with one or more cloud environments, with a significant advantage if familiar with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

Strong understanding of networking, internet standards, security (RBAC, SSO, IAM, Secrets Management, Encryption), observability and monitoring

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, understandable language for non-technical stakeholders

Demonstrated stress resistance, maintaining effectiveness and composure under pressure
