- Play a key role in the development of new vaccine candidates, from conception and molecular design to proof of concept
- Contribute to the design of protein and protein-nanoparticle-based vaccines as part of a highly experienced and dedicated team
- Convert strategic objectives into executable plans
- Develop strategies and protocols for molecular cloning, protein expression, and purification, and execute at lab scale
- Establish new expression systems using bacteria, eucaryotic cell lines and yeast
- Establish and use assays to characterize proteins, protein-particles, and their glycosylation patterns
- Provide scientific supervision and guidance to laboratory personnel, with a focus on technical and project-related oversight
- Collaborate closely within the team and with all departments in Research
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- PhD or equivalent in life sciences (e.g., biology, biotechnology) and preferably first experience in industry
- In-depth experience in protein biochemistry, from setting up expression and purification methods to characterization and analysis of the products
- Proven experience in overseeing and supporting staff in scientific and technical contexts
- Broad experience in molecular biology and an understanding of immunology in the context of vaccination is an advantage
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills using experimental techniques and literature research
