Data Protection Officer (m/f/d)
The key responsibilities of our Data Protection Officer (m/f/d) are:
- Ensure communication with data protection authorities and provide oversight of communication towards individuals (in particular: customers and employees) covering Germany and Austria (respectively around 70/30% workload allocation)
- Those mandated by applicable law
- Communication with internal (e.g. employees) and external stakeholders, data protection authorities as well as data subjects
- Contribution to the monitoring of the regulatory landscape on data protection regulations and relevant communication performed by our legal department
- Participation in committees related to personal data protection at different levels
- Supervision of our overall personal data protection framework regarding:
- Implementation of policies and guidelines on personal data protection and privacy by design principles
- Provision of advice on Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA)
- Review of the implementation of personal data security principles and management of personal data breaches
- Oversee the Records of processing activities
- Contribution towards building and implementing an awareness program
- Definition and operation of second level controls and independent testing on personal data protection frameworks in order to monitor compliance with personal data protection legislation and internal policies and guidelines
Qualifications & Experience
- Master's degree in law (or economics/IT) or a related field
- Data protection certification
- Several years of data protection-related experience as a Data Protection Officer or within a similar role
- Sound knowledge of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other data protection-related laws and regulations
- Project management experience beneficial
Skills and Knowledge
- Profound experience with data protection compliance risk management, incl. risk identification, evaluation, mitigation and management
- Experience in the development of data protection compliance management systems, as well as in data protection compliance management framework development and execution; general knowledge of the financial services industry advantageous
- Extensive experience in working directly with executive leadership and board of directors if needed to present, review and discuss compliance management topics
- Ability to navigate within a matrix environment and execute for multiple stakeholders, managing active discussions and negotiations, and operating under stringent expectations and deadlines as well as prioritize workload
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills incl. the ability to review, interpret and present data in a concise and precise manner
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in German and English, both oral and written; excellent attention to detail
