With a fleet of 287 modern container ships and a Vessel Capacity 2.2 million TEU, as well as a Container Capacity 3.2 million TEU including one of the world's largest and most modern reefer container fleets, Hapag-Lloyd is one of the world's leading liner shipping companies. In the Liner Shipping segment, the Company has around 13.500 employees and 400 offices in 139 countries. A total of 114 liner services worldwide ensure fast and reliable connections between more than 600 ports across the world. In the Terminal & Infrastructure segment, Hapag-Lloyd has stakes in 20 terminals in Europe, Latin America, the United States, India, and North Africa. The roughly 2.600 employees assigned to the Terminal & Infrastructure segment deal with terminal-related activities and provide complementary logistics services at selected locations.
At Hapag-Lloyd we know that digital product offerings and IT capabilities are one of the most critical success factors for delivering customer value in container shipping. We are on a journey to migrate our entire digital product landscape onto cloud infrastructure. As part of our Global IT Infrastructure and Operations organization, you are accountable for delivery of On-Prem Infrastructure and Connectivity services, their operations, as well as delivery of a portfolio of infrastructure projects. You lead a team of IT technology and operations experts, and you cooperate closely with multiple internal IT teams as well as technology and service providers to ensure high availability and the environment within the performance, compliance and cost targets.
The scope of responsibilities includes:
On-Prem infrastructure
- Delivery and operations of DataCentre services (Mainframe and Midrange), IBM Cloud hosting infrastructure, and local infrastructure across multiple geographies
- Optimisation of mainframe and mid-range technologies, including migration to public cloud environments
- Management of local infrastructure across all Hapag-Lloyd sites, ensuring seamless integration and operations
- Ensures compliance with Cyber Security, KRITIS, and Hapag-Lloyd Business Continuity requirements in infrastructure delivery
- Implementation of programs to optimize mainframe consumption costs and drive operational efficiency
- Timely and effective delivery of on-premise midrange services and IBM Cloud services to AWS, in alignment with agreed digital transformation goals
- Proactive demand and capacity management to ensure the infrastructure can meet evolving business needs
Connectivity
- Accountable for technology and operations delivery for WAN, LAN, Telephony, Videoconferencing, Contact Centres, DNS/DHCP/Infoblox and well as firewall environment
- Delivery of connectivity related projects for all HL sites
- Cooperates with regional on-site IT support teams as well as Facility management to ensure requirements of the business are met in a timely manner
Vendor Management
Responsible for supplier performance and execution of contracts with focus on:
- Execution of contracts with outsourcers from On-Prem infrastructure services, ensuring compliance with agreed terms and performance standards
- Management of partnerships and execution of contracts for Connectivity services, fostering strong collaboration with service providers
- Vendor management for respective technologies and services, overseeing delivery performance and ensuring alignment with business requirements
People leadership
- An important aspect of this role involves leading a team of approx. 20-30 internal experts located in Hamburg, Gdansk (Poland) and Chennai (India), along with contracted external workforce, to ensure successful project delivery
- Due to the responsibility for leading interdisciplinary teams and successfully delivering complex projects, solid leadership experience is essential for this role
- Over 15 years of experience in infrastructure, application delivery and support
- Extensive experience in supporting hybrid infrastructures, including mainframe systems
- Strong background in outsourced service delivery management and partnerships
- More than 5 years of experience in leading and motivating teams to achieve challenging goals and ensure high performance
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Self-confident and comfortable interacting with executive-level leaders
- Analytical mindset with a structured and goal-oriented approach
- Fluent in English, German is a plus
- ITIL certification, DevOps knowledge is an advantage
- Knowledge of KRITIS and ISO standards is an advantage
- Experience with ServiceNow and Atlassian products is a plus
