acatech – the National Academy of Science and Engineering – provides policymakers and society with independent, evidence-based advice for the public good. Its work spans a wide range of topics, from digitalisation and artificial intelligence to the future of energy supply, mobility, sustainable resource use, education, and technology communication. We are a dynamic, interdisciplinary team of over 200 professionals who coordinate acatech's activities from our offices in Munich, Berlin, and Brussels.

For the successful implementation of an EU-funded project with the objective of implementing a common European data space for mobility in 9 cities and regions across Europe, we are looking for a

Project Officer (m/f/d)

at one of our two office locations in Germany (Munich or Berlin), ideally with experience working on project communication and innovative event and workshop formats.


As a key member of the project team, you will help coordinate and implement a 3-year EU-funded project (November 2023 – October 2026) supporting the establishment of the European data space for mobility. The project aims to develop open-source digital infrastructure and data governance mechanisms across nine European cities and regions, addressing barriers to data access and sharing and supporting the implementation of local use cases related to multimodal mobility and urban traffic management. Your primary focus will be on facilitating processes and coordinating activities to ensure project success.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Organising and moderating project meetings, workshops, and events (virtual and in-person) using innovative collaboration tools.
  • Building and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, onboarding project partners, and maintaining regular communication with the European Commission.
  • Coordinating project activities such as scheduling, quality assurance, progress monitoring, and preparing deliverables and progress reports.
  • Compiling, tracking, and visualising project data to evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) across cities and regions (monitoring & evaluation).
  • Developing and managing project documentation and communication tools to align with organizational standards.
  • Designing and facilitating interactive workshops and team-building activities.
  • Conducting research, representing the project at external events in Europe, and occasionally traveling for project purposes.

Please note that project activities are diverse and tasks are somewhat flexible. Depending on your expertise and motivation to develop specific skills, you will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions in various areas, such as common technical infrastructure, cross-border governance, standardisation processes, or legal support, etc.


Key competencies required:

  • Degree (at least Bachelor's or comparable) in a relevant field.
  • Proven facilitation and workshop moderation skills, including virtual collaboration methodologies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality management experience.
  • Work experience in the public sector or in public sector projects (EU projects is a plus).
  • Interest in urban mobility, data and technology topics.
  • Proactive and adaptable approach to project management.
  • Proficiency in English (C2) and German (C2).

Competitive salary in accordance with qualifications and experience corresponding to the German public sector pay scale up to E 13 TVöD.

The selected candidates will start as soon as possible on a full-time basis, based in one of our offices in Munich or Berlin, with a possibility to work remotely. The position is initially limited to the project period (until end of October 2026) with the possibility of renewal and involvement in follow-up activities.
