Role Overview: Senior Casualty Underwriter
The newly appointed Senior Casualty Underwriter will play a key role in driving the development and execution of the company's exciting growth strategy. The successful candidate will be a respected market figure, representing the company's underwriting philosophy while embodying its core values and ensuring adherence to diligent, commercial underwriting practices. This position is essential for building and expanding a profitable Liability portfolio, contributing directly to the company's growth ambitions.
To reach this ambitious target, the incoming Senior Casualty Underwriter will leverage their expertise to develop innovative and tailored underwriting solutions for casualty clients.

Deliver customized insurance solutions for general liability risks in collaboration with the German underwriting team.

Act as the first point of contact for general liability risks, providing specialized advice and support to industrial insurance brokers.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with Lloyd's brokers, key clients, and market peers to strengthen trading relationships and secure new business aligned with the underwriting business plan.

Represent the company's casualty offering to ensure visibility in the market.

Negotiate special concepts and insurance brokers' own insurance conditions and clauses.

Review existing insurance contracts annually to ensure compliance with current requirements and standards.

Continuously monitor the German casualty portfolio to maintain optimal balance regarding profitability and risk appetite.

Collaborate with the wider underwriting and management team to deliver an evidence-based portfolio strategy, encompassing risk appetite, product mix, and approaches to growth and profitability.

Serve as a referral underwriter, working closely with general liability colleagues across tailor-made solutions and product solutions teams.

Mentor and support junior underwriters, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.

Completed studies or vocational training with a background in insurance.

At least 7 years of professional experience in liability insurance at an industrial insurer.

Solid expertise in the insurance market for industrial liability business.

Strong skills in independently reviewing and analyzing tender documents.

Proven experience and network in the strategic development and maintenance of key client and broker relationships, including regular meetings with clients and brokers.

Confident and convincing presentation skills, with a professional demeanor when representing the product portfolio to clients and brokers.

High reliability, quick comprehension, and excellent analytical, independent, and business-oriented thinking and decision-making skills, combined with strong numerical aptitude.

Experience working within international matrix structures and related decision-making processes is advantageous.
