Aroundhome is a recommendation platform for houseowners.

With a comprehensive range of information and services relating to their own home and a team of 300 employees, Aroundhome supports houseowners who live in their own property in carrying out major investment projects relating to their own home - from selling and investing to maintaining and repairing their property.

Join one of our cross-functional engineering teams focused on expanding our core business into a platform that enables customers to complete their home renovation projects successfully and return to use our services. As next challenge we build a customer account area and a new CDP layer for more relevant e-mail marketing.

What you can expect in this role

  • As Staff Engineer you are a driver for technical discussions and decision-making within your team and the teams around you by focusing on customer impact and technical quality
  • You contribute strategically to the development of technical solutions that address complex business challenges, identifying areas of uncertainty while driving projects forward with simple and maintainable code
  • Collaboration is central to your role - you regularly exchange with other Staff Engineers on the overarching architecture of our tech stack
  • You are a trusted point of contact for our product managers, providing both feedback and technical input on the user stories therefore help us build an outstanding product
  • You see yourself as a mentor who uncovers the strengths of the engineering members and you will empower them through regular feedback as well as mutual learning such as pair programming
  • You take ownership of the entire development cycle from proof of concept to go-live and always support your team to break projects down into manageable steps as well as being a resource for expert-level tech knowledge
  • You are committed to staying up-to-date with current tech trends, while actively exploring and implementing relevant new technologies. You constantly improve quality by following established engineering best practices and ensuring high observability of services

  • You are a very experienced staff-level engineer, with strong expertise in Ruby and an interest in Golang, eager to tackle backend challenges while also collaborating with frontend engineers across the full stack
  • You focus on sustainable solutions that remain easy to understand as well as scalable in the long term and strive for continuous improvement
  • You are enthusiastic and think both responsibly and pragmatically and distinguish with your positive and solution-oriented attitude when taking on challenges
  • You strive to improve, whether this is about the code, the team, or yourself, and therefore communicate as well as collaborate proactively
