We are looking to fill the position of

Associate IT Operations (gn)

full-time (40 hours/week). The contract is permanent and to start as of 01 January 2025. The successful candidate will join our IT Operations team.


  • Provide technical support for end-user accounts, Hertie School desktop hardware, standard software and printer issues across multiple locations.
  • Diagnose and resolve tier 1 and tier 2 technical problems related to computer systems, telephony, software, and other related hardware.
  • Co-operate the helpdesk ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution and accurate documentation of issues.
  • Perform maintenance for LAN and Wi-Fi networks
  • Conduct user account management including account creation, permission assignment and password resets.
  • Perform proactive maintenance on Hertie School client devices, including security patches and application updates.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve printer problems, including maintenance and vendor escalation when necessary.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve projectors and video conference system problems, including maintenance and vendor escalation when necessary.
  • Manage device distribution and collection for employees regarding onboarding and offboarding process.
  • Provide basic technical training and guidance to end-users.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to escalate and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of IT processes, procedures, inventory database and configurations.
  • Identify and report potential major incidents and problems to infrastructure level.
  • Collaboration in projects related to IT service operations.

  • University degree related to Computer Systems/IT.
  • Good knowledge of operating systems (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android) and common client applications (e.g. MS Office incl. MS Teams and Zoom).
  • Basic knowledge of MS Active Directory and user account maintenance as well as access rights management (incl. GPOs).
  • Working knowledge of Networking concepts, IT Infrastructure, and computer systems.
  • Strong customer support skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem-solving ability to diagnose and resolve basic and complex technical issues.
  • Possess attention to detail, follow-through and Goal-oriented professional practice.
  • High level of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • The ability to explain to a non-technical person in a way they will understand.
  • Independent and reliable way of working, but also a teamplayer.
  • Good written and spoken English and German.
