European Air Transport Leipzig GmbH (EAT) is a subsidiary of DHL Group. It is an aircraft maintenance company as well as a cargo airline. The fleet of EAT Leipzig consists of 36 aircraft, including Airbus A300-600, A330-200 and Boeing 757. At present, destinations in Europe, Asia, Africa, North America and the Middle East are approached. The company currently employs approximately 1200 staff at its bases at Leipzig/Halle airport and in Brussels.

YOUR TASKS

The Flight Dispatcher ensures a safe, efficient, and compliant flying program by planning flights for all EAT aircraft and providing flight operations support for DHL contract-based airlines. This role involves complying with all civil aviation and operator rules and regulations while proactively monitoring and analysing ATC restrictions, country conflict zones, weather data, NOTAMs, and aircraft technical information to ensure safe flight operations. Coordination with flight crew, airline maintenance, and air traffic control authorities is essential to maintain safety, performance, and cost targets. Additionally, the dispatcher performs operational control, maintains flight watch, and assists in critical situations.

  • Provide flight planning for all aircraft and flight crews of EAT,
  • Prepare, calculate, and file flight plans for EUR, NAM, NAT HLA, AFR, MID, Asia, and Caribbean airspaces in compliance with ICAO, EASA, IOSA regulations and company policies,
  • Monitor flight progress from departure to arrival, ensuring adherence to the flight plan and addressing any issues,
  • Ensure compliance with OM-A/B/C/D regulations, providing route briefings and flight safety/security information,
  • Determine fuel requirements based on freight/cargo volumes and environmental conditions, implementing fuel conservation and cost reduction measures,
  • Maintain effective communication between FOC DM, DSP SSV, flight crews, EAT maintenance, third-party operators, and DHL network entities,
  • Assist flight crew during flight preparation, inflight and provide support in critical situations such as weather or political changes, emergencies and or operational changes,
  • File & release flight plans to the ATC dependencies, ensure acceptance, and monitor any Airspace Regulations,
  • Re-plan and negotiate in the interest of the network schedule to achieve the best on-time performance,
  • Compile and conduct specialized briefings for flight and relevant personnel,
  • Use flight planning, watching/monitoring systems, and communication channels competently,
  • Perform post-flight procedures, ensuring successful flight termination and completeness of documentation,
  • Coordinate ad-hoc overflight and landing authorizations, ad-hoc airport slots, and ancillary services when required,
  • Ensure effective communication with all departments and organizations involved in flight operations,
  • Serve in a support role for the Senior Supervisor Flight Dispatch and FOC DM on duty.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Hold a Flight Dispatcher license (LBA, FAA, or equivalent) or ATPL theory degree,
  • Competent background in commercial flight operations,
  • Understanding of navigation, meteorology, flight planning, air traffic control, and aviation regulations,
  • Familiarity with legislative and regulatory frameworks (ICAO, IOSA, EASA),
  • Fluency in spoken and written English,
  • Good knowledge of German is an asset,
  • Strong and competent communication skills with technical and non-technical staff,
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team,
  • Strong analytical abilities and decision-making competencies,
  • Ability to react efficiently in crisis situations and work under pressure in an open space office,
  • Service-oriented with a can-do attitude,
  • Ability to work in a shift duty environment, including 12h shifts, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
