Canada's official representation in Germany includes the Embassy of Canada in Berlin, as well as the Consulates in Düsseldorf and Munich. Members of the team work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary and international environment. The role of the three offices and their more than 100 Canada-based and locally engaged staff is to develop the relationship between Canada and Germany across a number of areas.

Canada and Germany have friendly and long-standing relations and cooperate together on a great variety of shared global challenges and common interests. As well, Canadian offices provide consular and other services and host events and conferences.
Canada's Trade Commissioner Service (TCS) is a worldwide network of professionals in international business development (IBD), with preferred access to business knowledge and contacts, who are committed to advancing Canadian commercial and economic interests abroad.

The Trade Commissioner Service in the Consulate of Canada in Munich is currently seeking a:

Trade Assistant (m/f/d)


This position contributes to the delivery of the IBD program at the mission by delivering services to clients in accordance with TCS policies and guidelines, and Government of Canada policies and priorities for international trade, investment, and innovation, with the objective of helping Canadian clients make better business decisions abroad. All Government of Canada employee activities are governed by the Government of Canada's Code of Values and Ethics.

The Trade Assistant provides daily administrative support and services; maintains and administers the Trade Program budgets, providing updates and projections on a regular and ongoing basis; provides and creates information and documentation; provides support for on-going trade program activities; responds to service requests from clientele and performs other duties as required.


Essential qualifications include a professional level of English and German at approximately C1 level.
The ideal candidate has a completed post-secondary degree (e.g. Bachelor's degree) or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience (e.g. high-school diploma and a mix of training and experience, such as a German Ausbildung).

In addition, the ideal candidate has significant work experience in client service, business development, and/or providing administrative services, which includes managing appointments, providing event/logistical support and budget and/or accounting support. Significant work experience is defined as two years full-/part-time experience.


The position is full-time (37.5 hours per week) and indeterminate. The starting annual salary of 48,801 EUR gross per annum. As per current terms and conditions (periodically reviewed) additional benefits include a yearly bonus of 13th month´s salary, a 14th half month's salary bonus, 30 days of annual leave and a performance based annual salary increase
