Jobbeschreibung

To drive the future of e-commerce at the Otto Group headquarters in Hamburg, and to experience the innovative power of our Group. In the teams of the Otto Group functional areas, we successfully manage 123 national and international individual companies and develop the strategy of the Otto Group on a daily basis. Does that sound exciting? Then let's get started together.

At Otto Group data.works, we are passionate about innovation and pushing technological boundaries. Our department, consisting of around 35 tech enthusiasts, develops data and AI products for various Otto Group companies. Our product portfolio consists of chatbots, sales forecasting models, image generation solutions and many other products. We use both traditional machine learning methods (such as NLP, clustering, regression and classification) and the latest advances in generative AI (such as large language models and text-to-image).

Our small, agile teams consist of a Product Manager, Data Scientists and Data Engineers. Together we achieve fast and impactful results. We are responsible for the entire product lifecycle - from initial research and experimentation to development and operation in production. Each team member takes responsibility for the team's products.

At data.works, we value curiosity, creativity and collaboration. That's why we regularly organize hacking and innovation days to learn new technologies together. In our internal meetups, we share the latest data and AI trends and best practices to stay at the forefront of progress. In addition, we frequently contribute to the open source community and have released several packages, including skorch and bquest.

Our data pool integrates millions of clickstream events and backend data from over 50 Otto Group e-commerce stores every day. This robust foundation allows us to quickly develop impressive data products.

Many people talk about "home office" - we talk about "hybrid or mobile work": our teams decide together with their managers what balance of mobile working (remote) and on-site presence makes sense for them. Typically, the product teams meet in the office 1-2 times a week.

You are welcome to join us part-time (30 h/week).

Tech stack:

  • Google Cloud Platform | Amazon Web Services
  • SQL | Docker | GitHub | Terraform
  • Python: Sklearn | Pytorch | Pandas

  • From Ideas to Action: Translate ideas into prototypes and then into production using best practices from MLOps. This role goes beyond just modeling in Jupyter Notebooks. You will also be responsible for deploying and maintaining data science solutions and evolving our solutions.
  • Unleash your innovative spirit: Immerse yourself in new technologies, be it in your daily tasks, special hacking days or sprints. We encourage a culture of active exploration to apply the latest advances and improve existing products or create new ones.
  • Take ownership: Be responsible for features and products from inception to deployment. Your contributions will directly influence the success and further development of our solutions.
  • Team-driven development: Influence our products and foster a collaborative culture through code reviews, pair programming and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay up to date: Continuously update your skills and knowledge with the latest industry trends and technologies.

Not sure if the position is right for you? - We will be happy to put you in touch with Theresa Wohlsen from the specialist department. Would you like to experience your future team and workplace live? - You will have the opportunity to do so at a later date as part of your application process.

To get to know you and your skills better, you can expect a Python coding challenge during the application process.
