Then become part of our team at KWS LOCHOW GmbH at the Wohlde-Bergen location as an Assistant Breeder (m/f/d) for Management of Selection Processes for Product Development in the Hybrid Rye Breeding Program. This exciting position is full-time and permanent.
Drive the selection decisions of the hybrid rye product development pipeline with a thorough understanding of the germplasm and contribute to the strategy of the company allowing a short time-to-market introduction of successful varieties. We look forward to receiving your application.

Your Responsibilities with Us:
  • Deliver precise results with a high degree of accountability by conducting comprehensive analyses of phenotypic and genomic datasets using statistical software such as R and SAS.
  • Contribute to common selection decisions across the breeding program.
  • Streamline decision making by processing and compiling data from across different functional units of the breeding program.
  • Define selection criteria based on understanding of germplasm and associated traits.
  • Refine selection procedures for product development by considering genetic factors, knowledge on germplasm, efficiency, and logistical aspects to ensure a sustainable yield of elite genetics from the breeding program.
  • Foster scientific cooperation with external partners in breeding research and be an active community member.
  • Conceptualize, plan, implement, and manage breeding-related research projects.

Your Profile:
  • Completed Master's or PhD in the fields of plant breeding, agricultural sciences, statistics, or related subjects.
  • Solid knowledge and proven experience in phenotypic data analysis; basic understanding of genetics and breeding methodologies.
  • Ideally, initial professional experience in complex structures and an international context.
  • Very good written and spoken English skills; basic communication skills in German are an advantage.
  • High level of self-responsibility and ownership regarding the projects and topics handled.
  • Strong communication and project management skills across functional, regional and cultural boundaries.
  • High willingness to learn and work with enthusiasm on new, complex breeding topics.
