At ClimatePal we are a group of highly motivated professionals coming from diverse backgrounds with one goal – a more sustainable future! If you are passionate about sustainability and want to find a place where you can make a difference, we are looking forward to welcoming you as System Manager – Carbon Credit Certification in a permanent full-time position in our team at the head office in Cologne.

In this role you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • You will review and evaluate project documents concerning greenhouse gas mitigation activities in various sectors, such as forestry, agriculture, energy, and transport
  • You will operate the ClimatePal registry and maintain project documentation
  • You will facilitate certifications through technical guidance to project developers and auditors
  • You will develop and conduct trainings for validation and verification bodies
  • You will develop and update system documents, templates, certification methodologies etc.
  • You will follow the developments of the voluntary carbon market and relevant regulatory frameworks, such as the EU Carbon Removal Certification Framework
  • You will lead the recognition process of ClimatePal under regulatory frameworks
  • You will establish and maintain good working relations with relevant stakeholders
  • You will support the public outreach through online content and presentations at events


We are looking forward to:

  • University degree in economics, business, environmental engineering, environmental studies, bioeconomy, energy management, natural sciences, life sciences, or other related fields
  • Preferably 5+ years of postgraduate professional experience
  • Preferably 2+ years, but at least 1 year, of proven professional experience in carbon crediting
  • Strong knowledge of carbon crediting frameworks, e.g., CDM or voluntary standards
  • Additional experience in the following areas is of advantage: GHG accounting, forestry, agriculture, bioenergy
  • Strong professional network in carbon markets
  • Excellent language skills in English; German and other languages of advantage
  • Excellent communication skills in international environments with stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent research and writing skills
