We are looking for a Senior Energy Engineer to join our E.ON Future Lab team in Munich. At E.ON Future Lab, our mission is to develop and incubate digital technology inventions and IP for E.ON and the energy industry as a whole. We favor creativity, learning, variance, experimentation, and risk-taking to explore new business opportunities and to apply new digital technologies in the fields of IoT, AI and automation to a smart, flexible and sustainable energy world.

A convincing background

  • A Master's or Ph.D. degree in Energy Engineering, System Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Over 6 years of professional experience in the energy sector, with a focus on smart and flexible energy systems (electricity/heating grids), energy conversion and storage systems, energy management systems, or closely related fields.
  • Proven track record of leading innovation and entrepreneurial activities within a corporate environment. Experience in leading technical teams is a significant advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in dedicated, cross-functional teams.
  • Good command in using simulation programs (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, HOMER, Panda Power, OpenDSS) and programming languages (e.g., Python, C++). Familiarity with additional languages and simulation programs is a plus.
  • In-depth understanding of distributed energy devices, such as storage systems, electric vehicles, heat pumps, and HVAC systems. Expertise in their operating principles, control and management, interoperability, and best practices for grid integration.
  • Hands-on experience and fundamental knowledge of AI, IoT and power electronics are advantageous.
  • Willingness and the ability to manage oneself, quickly adapt to changes and work in purpose-and self-driven projects.
  • Experience in working and communicating across border and manage both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Passion for technology and the inner desire to move things forward.
  • Understanding of the wider objectives and mechanism in the energy industry.
  • Business fluency in English and at least an intermediate level of proficiency in German.
