Gen Re currently offers an excellent opportunity for a (Senior) Pricing Actuary (d/f/m) to work in the Pricing - P&C International team based in our Cologne office. This is a hybrid role.


As a (Senior) Pricing Actuary you will lead a staff member, also being part of a team and reporting to the Head of P&C International Pricing.

  • Responsibility for setting default and benchmark parameters for the international treaty business in property and casualty insurance; strengthening the feedback process between historical performance metrics and the determination of prospective pricing parameters in all major P&C business lines
  • Responsibility for the organisation of pricing reviews, development and application of the pricing control framework, including compliance with guidelines and training
  • Contribute to the conceptual and technical development of new and improvement of existing property and casualty pricing tools; this includes contributing to the improvement and refinement of pricing methodologies and benchmark models
  • Supporting the conception and design of performance metrics and their connection to the pricing tools
  • Supporting quantitative risk management, including the determination of target margins and the further development of underlying capital models
  • Pricing for complex reinsurance structures and supporting local underwriters in this task
  • Contribute to the use and implementation of AI in Gen Re's own pricing and performance measurement applications

  • Degree in mathematics/statistics or a similar subject.
  • Ideally at least 5 years of professional experience in (re)insurance, preferably in pricing in property and casualty insurance, with a completed actuarial training at a recognised association (DAV/IFoA/Cas/etc.)
  • Very good knowledge of Excel and proven experience with programming languages such as R or Python
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of German desirable
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Team player with an affinity for sustainable networking and an eye for detail, who also achieves excellent results independently and actively seeks improvements to current processes
