In the Global Research & Development (GRD) department we work together on new technologies to reduce the overall CO2-footprint of cement and concrete. We want to be the industry leader on the way to carbon neutrality.

Therefore, we are looking for a Team Leader (f/m/d) Scientific Coordination. The position will be located in Leimen (near Heidelberg), Germany, and will report to the position Head of Cement, Concrete & Applications.


YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE

  • Manage small team of scientific experts in mineralogy and advanced chemistry

  • Guide and support GRD project managers in scientific questions, e.g., planning and interpretation of test programs

  • Develop and maintain close relation to the leading scientific institutes in cement and concrete technology

  • Transfer latest developments in cement science and analytical tools into Heidelberg Materials' R&D project work (internalization of knowledge)

  • Train and educate GRD staff in above matters

  • Identify opportunities for publicly funded projects and organize resulting activities accordingly

  • Oversee, coordinate and follow up all projects related to development of alternative binder concepts

  • Identify Intellectual Property opportunities and conduct respective activities to protect Heidelberg Materials' interests


YOUR PROFILE

  • University degree in chemistry, mineralogy or equivalent

  • A minimum of 5 years professional experience in research & development of building materials in different positions in research institutes or in the industry, if possible, work experience in a foreign country

  • Very solid scientific background

  • Strong ability to apply scientific knowledge in a profit-oriented, industrial environment as well as strategic and conceptual thinking

  • High degree of self-organization and very well-structured way of working and communicating

  • Strong determination to be creative and make decisions

  • English and German, additional language skills of advantage

  • Willingness to extensively travel abroad
