We offer a postdoc position in a project aiming at the development of organoid models for inflammatory bowel diseases. The project is a collaboration between the Fraunhofer Institute for Translational Medicine and Pharmacology ITMP, the Medical Campus of the Goethe University, and Sanofi. The position will be based in Frankfurt am Main.


  • Establish co-culture strategies of patient-derived organoids with autologous immune cells, mimicking the complexity of the human intestine during inflammation and implementation as a pharmacological tool for drug testing in preclinical research
  • Develop a workflow analysis to investigate crosstalk between human colonic epithelium and immune cells
  • Molecularly and functionally characterize co-culture models using advanced technologies such as single-cell RNA-sequencing and 3D high-throughput imaging systems

  • PhD in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, or a related discipline
  • Experience with primary cell culture, profound knowledge of molecular, cell biology and immunology techniques with hands-on experience
  • Advantageous but not required: Expertise in organoid technology, high-throughput imaging or patient biosample processing
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and international team of scientists
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Independent problem solving and systematic data-driven experimental design and execution
  • Fluency in English, German is a plus
