The Data Insights & AI team designs and builds analytics solutions to provide insightful answers to our colleagues worldwide. We are shaping analytics solutions with the data from our smart container fleet in cross-functional teams jointly with specialists across the business. You share an office with a diverse team of likeminded Data Scientists, Visualization Experts, Data Engineers, and colleagues with in-depth knowledge about our business.


As Data Scientist anchored in team Data Excellence Inland & IoT, you will work at the intersection of a business's data needs and their translation into BI applications and data solutions. Together with the team and the business counterparts, you will conceptualize analytical solutions, outline and address data requirements, perform exploratory data analysis, and work on cross-functional BI and data science projects.

  • Builds and maintains analytics pipelines in our state-of-the-art data landscape
  • Performs exploratory and ad hoc data analysis
  • Works with business partners to identify and prioritize analytics solutions that will have a tangible impact on our business by reducing costs, improving revenue, or increasing quality
  • Takes on the role of an outside-in challenger to proactively identify data opportunities
  • Develops and implements analytics solutions and identifies associated data with relevant IT teams, including data quality and governance aspects
  • Participates in and leads cross-functional projects involving data science, IT teams and the global Data & Analytics community
  • Ensures that necessary documentation is available to preserve knowledge and ensure operational stability of BI applications and solutions

  • You hold a university degree (ideally focused on business informatics or similar quantitative field) or comparable practice experience and you are excited about applying your technical and analytical expertise to the world of global logistics
  • You are experienced in common analytics programming languages such as Python, R or Scala
  • You have experience with big data analytics tools (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake)
  • Ideally, you have already worked with spatial analytics and big data (e.g. spark, H3, kepler)
  • Motivation to learn and apply ML techniques (e.g. clustering, predictions)
  • You are able to get into CI/CD and Git (e.g. GitLab)
  • Experience in data visualization tools are a plus (e.g. Qlik, Tableau or similar)
  • You have a track record of successfully analyzing data and combining operational and commercial domains – ideally in the logistics or comparable environment
  • Ability to simplify complex situations and present results in a structured way and able to communicate same to the organization in an understandable and compelling way
  • Keen interest in project and process management is a plus
  • Your way of working is assertive, goal-oriented and pragmatic – as a team player you appreciate a close collaboration throughout your team and in international project groups
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills round out your profile
