If you are an expert in protein biochemistry with a special focus on the application of protein-protein interaction technologies, come and join us! We are looking for a Project Lead (m/f/d) for the area of “Analytics of Protein-Protein-Interactions” at KWS SAAT SE & Co. KGaA at our headquarter in Einbeck, Germany. The contract will be full-time and permanent.
As a member of our Molecular Technologies team, you will be responsible for the establishment of an in-house technology platform to characterize protein-protein interactions in diverse KWS crops. You will be able to apply your quick-thinking and problem-solving skills to offer creative and effective protein interaction analyses solutions to our internal customers. Supported by a team of research technicians you will be accountable for the launch of service modules. You will work together and create synergies with our customers in the trait development and breeding departments, as well as with external cooperators and advisors.

This will be in your area of responsibility:
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement state-of-the-art technical approaches and solutions to analyze protein interactions in vitro and in vivo.
  • Establish and lead an in-house service platform for the characterization of protein-protein interactions and launch respective service modules.
  • Demand-driven optimization of the service structures and expansion of the technology portfolio.
  • Monitor external providers including benchmarking and coordinate external cooperation activities.
  • Manage resources and budgets, prioritize duties to complete tasks in an effective and efficient manner, adapt approaches to match shifting demands.
  • Lead and manage a small team of Technicians/Research Associates, enabling team members to grow in accordance with KWS competence model and talent management.

Your experience:
  • PhD or equivalent qualification in biochemistry or biology with proven professional experience in bioscience studying protein-protein interactions.
  • Strong technical know-how and hands-on experience that enable the application and troubleshooting of technologies to detect protein-protein interactions.
  • Demonstrated experience in at least two high throughput interaction screening assays such as yeast two-hybrid screening, phage display technology or pull-down approaches.
  • Experience in managing personnel and workflows is a plus, integrating scientific and non-scientific information into optimized and risk-balanced work packages with clear milestones and KPIs.
  • Willingness to set up and lead a routine service and agility to navigate shifting customer expectations.
  • Full proficiency in English is required, basic German is an advantage.
