Finance NextGen - Project Controller (d/f/m) Space Digital

The Finance NextGen Programme is an Airbus Defence and Space-wide development programme. This programme is designed to identify and develop talented Leaders for the Airbus Finance Community who will contribute significantly towards achieving our business goals. The Finance NextGen Programme - sponsored by Airbus Defence and Space CFO - enables its participants to enhance financial know-how and expertise, combined with further learning in management and leadership competencies.

The mission of the programme:

1. Fostering and deepening participants' financial knowledge and expertise on the Airbus world of Finance, enlarging the scope to the international financial context

2. Linking formal learning with rotating, real-business project assignments

3. Increasing participants' project management and leadership competencies

4. Encouraging networking, job shadowing, mobility and cross-cultural experiences

5. Mentorship from a member of the Finance Top Management

6. Invitation to a Airbus Defence & Space Finance Conference

This Program consists of two assignments in two different countries. Each assignment lasts for a period of two years. They are combined with off-the-job modules, designed to strengthen participant's management and

financial competencies.

After your first two years in the programme, you will continue to develop your work experience by taking over a role in a different function in Finance (e.g. Project Control, Budgetary Control, Treasury, M&A) and country of Airbus Defence & Space in order to further develop your finance technical skills, your communication skills and your knowledge about Airbus.

Mission Project Controller (d/f/m) Space Digital

As a Project Controller (d/f/m), you are an important part of the Connected Intelligence Finance Community and the project organization. As a sophisticated business partner, you will contribute significantly to managing the profits and losses of the project. You will collect and provide data to enable informed decision making at the management level and provide an overview of performance against targets. You will identify and analyze discrepancies and take optimization measures of financial and operational performance. You will work effectively with your business partners from all departments (e.g. Program, Engineering, Procurement, Commercial & Contracts, Accounting). In addition, you will support important topics in the project (budget approvals, supplementary management, cash and scheduling, subcontracting, forecasts, reporting, etc.). You will also be responsible for managing the financial aspects of project contracts, including invoicing, cash, risk and opportunity management. During the quotation phases, you will be responsible for all financial aspects and support contract changes and the acquisition of additional orders while maintaining the required profitability targets.

The job of a Project Controller requires a solid business understanding, a feel for numbers and solid interpersonal skills in order to guide those involved to the best business decisions for the company, even in difficult situations. The role is challenging in its complexity and must be taken on by someone who is able to understand the people, the product and the numbers. You will work with the project team and be assigned to the finance organization. A high level of self-confidence, emotional intelligence, teamwork, perseverance and persuasiveness are required to master this role as a business partner.

Your Project Controller role will be located in the German Space Digital finance team. As part of the Connected Intelligence Business Unit, we serve our German customers with secure satellite communication systems and services. In this role, you will cover the project controlling of our German regeneration and service contracts, which are an important cornerstone of our business. With your work, you actively contribute to the success of our business today and in the future.

Your main tasks and responsibilities

  • Carrying out order management, project controlling and reporting

  • Project-related work in SAP including structure maintenance and analyses

  • Internal assignments within the group

  • Manage incoming and outgoing invoices

  • Financial support of offers taking into account German pricing law

  • Budget control

  • Active support of commercial contract management

  • Risk assessment and opportunity development

Desired skills and qualifications

  • You have completed a masters degree in business administration with a focus on finance or equivalent

  • You already have commercial experience

  • It is an advantage if you have experience with the public client

  • You are confident in using SAP (CO/FI)

  • You are used to working in project teams

  • You have a feeling for risks and opportunities

  • You are extremely good at numbers

  • You are characterized by precise and punctual work

  • You speak business-fluent German and have advanced knowledge of English

  • You are willing to change position, function and country after two years
