Our client is a prominent service provider specializing in vehicle warranties and roadside assistance. Headquartered in a major European city and with additional offices across several key locations in Europe, the company offers a comprehensive portfolio of services. These include vehicle warranties, maintenance contracts, roadside assistance, and a variety of other services for vehicle manufacturers, dealerships, rental and leasing companies, insurance firms, and banks.

For their Berlin location, the company is seeking a Director of Operations and Finance (m/f/d). This position requires extensive knowledge in financial management and operational excellence. The ideal candidate should have experience in the insurance sector, financial services, or the automotive industry and will report directly to the CEO Germany.


Leadership and Team Management

  • Inspire and lead the operational and finance teams
  • Conduct resource planning and manage recruitment within functional areas
  • Oversee the development, mentoring, and performance evaluations of team members

Operational Excellence

  • Produce comprehensive monthly operational and financial reports with detailed commentary
  • Establish, manage, and monitor operational KPIs to ensure ongoing service excellence
  • Continuously evaluate and improve work processes and workflows
  • Ensure clear communication and meticulous documentation of all processes and policies

Financial Management

  • Oversee monthly management reporting, including P&L, balance sheet, and financial analysis
  • Develop detailed budget plans and forecasts
  • Manage and monitor claims, overhead costs, and resource productivity
  • Maintain internal control safeguards and risk management for operations and finance
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements (e.g., BaFin)

Strategic Collaboration

  • Actively collaborate and coordinate with all stakeholders
  • Provide management information and analytics to support business and customer needs
  • Manage external relationships with customers and third-party insurance underwriters

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is required
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or equivalent are advantageous
  • Proven experience in a comparable management role, ideally as a Head of Operations or Head of Finance in a B2C or B2B context
  • Expertise in the insurance sector, financial services, or automotive industry
  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic planning abilities
  • Previous leadership of sizeable teams with excellent team leadership and communication skills
  • Technically astute with keen attention to detail and logical decision-making
  • Comfortable working both strategically and operationally, with a hands-on approach
  • Solution-oriented with a high sense of responsibility and goal-focused mindset
  • Authentic and engaging team player with a collaborative working style
  • Open, transparent, and communicative
  • Fluent in written and spoken German and English; French is an advantage
  • Expert proficiency in Excel and other MS Office applications
