The Mercedes-Benz Group AG is one of the most successful automotive companies in the world. Together with Mercedes-Benz AG, the vehicle manufacturer is one of the largest providers of premium and luxury cars and vans.

Our department enables the customer to have the best charging with the integration of our AC and DC charging systems into EV and Plugin vehicles. We ensure seamless interaction with on- and off-board functions and make the charging process convenient and reliable. Our charging systems are connected by modern wallboxes in Mercedes-Benz design, charging connection cables and charging interfaces in accordance with international standards. Our development process includes the definition of the entire charging system with infrastructure requirements, standards, charging profiles, charging services and HMI requirements. High-performance charging and integration while advancing cost, weight and installation space.

In the AC/DC Chargers team, we are responsible for the Onboard diagnostic topics for our battery-electric and plug-in vehicles. The Onboard diagnostics helps our customer understand the failures which can occur if the vehicle is in the hands of the customer. Probably you already encountered OBD in your daily life, by malfunction indication lamps, service scan tools after visiting the workshops, where the failure codes were read from your vehicle.

In the current, prominent EQS, our AC charger and our DC charging box charge the HV battery. For our future generation of charging components, we are working in an agile, dynamic team and are looking for support from a working student.

These are the challenges you will face:

  • Developing & documenting test cases using internal tools
  • Execution of OBD-Tests on vehicles and test benches
  • Analysing different failure scenarios
  • Support in the generation of concepts for future vehicle platforms
  • Support in development logistics including test benches and test vehicles
  • Project-related analysis and research activities

  • Course of study in the field of computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, economics or similar
  • Fluent written and spoken English (min. C1)
  • Confident handling of MS Office
  • Commitment and ability to work in a team
  • Analytical mindset and strategic way of working
  • Enthusiasm for electromobility
  • Ideally, initial experience with projects, e.g. through student work
  • Organizational skills
