The Berlin International Film Festival (IFB) is the most important cultural event in the city, one of the most prestigious events in the international film industry, and one of the largest public film festivals in the world.

Berlinale Talents is an initiative of the Berlin International Film Festival and one of the leading global platforms for education, networking, and talent promotion in the film industry. Each year, 200 selected film and series creators from the fields of directing, screenwriting, production, cinematography, editing, acting, production design, film composition, sound design, film criticism, distribution, and audience design are invited to a six-day event during the Berlinale in Berlin to exchange ideas with experts from art and film, as well as festival guests, further develop their film projects, and explore new markets.

Berlinale Talents is currently seeking a

Programme Manager Berlinale Talents (f/m/d)

from October 1, 2024, limited until September 30, 2025.

An extension of the contract is desired.


  • Strategic conceptualisation, development, and analysis of Berlinale Talents in a dual leadership role together with the Project Management
  • Co-leadership of the department with approximately five permanent and up to 150 temporary staff and contracted service providers together with the project management
  • Close collaboration with other Berlinale Pro* initiatives EFM, WCF, and Berlinale Co-Production Market, which add value to the Berlinale as a whole
  • Supporting the management in innovative change processes and ensuring safe, inclusive working practices for the team and considering ecological impacts
  • Developing a curriculum and corresponding programme offerings (talks, workshops, scholarships, networking events) and inviting high-profile guests and experts, based on extensive networking in the film industry
  • Leading curatorial role in the selection process of participants and their projects
  • Conceptual and content contributions to the acquisition of external funds and sponsor support, and development of implementation concepts together with the Project Management
  • Planning, coordinating, and evaluating the overall processes of Berlinale Talents and internal communication, ensuring personnel and organizational structure together with the project management
  • Active communication with key representatives of the international film and TV industry and continuous professional contact maintenance with the global talent network (including approximately 200 partners, sponsors, and cooperation partners)

  • Master's degree in editorial or cultural fields or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience
  • Relevant positive experience in a leadership position in the film industry, preferably with an international aspect
  • Several years of proven practical experience in international co-production and distribution and their financing models, as well as knowledge of current challenges in a disruptive artistic and economic context
  • Sophisticated understanding of distribution and evaluation mechanisms in the film industry, the complex needs of different industry sectors, and their interplay along the value chain
  • Experience in developing and designing film-related innovative talent promotion, training workshops, and public discourse offerings, based on extensive networking in the international film industry, including film funding institutions, film festivals, and other mentoring programs
  • Negotiation skills and confident handling of high-profile partners, clients, and guests
  • English language skills at level C2 according to the CEFR, additional languages are desirable
