We are looking for an experienced Transport & Logistics Manager to join our Central Europe Cluster Team!

As a Transport & Logistics Manager for the Central Europe Cluster, you will be responsible for transport cost evaluations in our tender projects and a safe and compliant end-to-end transportation planning and execution in our execution projects. You will manage transportation activities (heavy lift and project cargo) in close cooperation with the Project and Supply Chain Teams in the countries and lead a small logistics team in Germany. The position will be based in Mannheim, Germany.

  • You ensure a close coordination between the project management teams of the cluster countries and the freight companies, brokers and customs authorities
  • You initiate and maintain close communication with Project Management and Sales to understand the transportation needs of the projects
  • You support tender projects by providing transportation / logistics costs, including participation in site surveys if required
  • You are responsible for issuing contracts with freight shipping providers and developing project shipping plans based on SCM procurement planning to achieve the best conditions
  • You execute transport contracts (mainly rail, road, sea freight) for the cluster countries
  • You are responsible for managing and monitoring the transportation progress and clearance procedure to ensure minimum lead time
  • You represent the transport and logistics function in project kick-offs and subsequent project meetings
  • If necessary, you travel to the construction site or loading site to supervise loading and unloading activities

  • Bachelor-s degree or higher in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management or Engineering
  • At least 5 years experience in project logistics, project freight management or heavy lift transportation and customs
  • Capability to manage and prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasks in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues from other functions and countries as well as with freight shipping providers
  • German and English language skills to negotiate with suppliers and conclude contracts
  • Advanced IT skills (MS Office applications, SAP)
  • Willingness to travel (within the Central Europe Cluster)
