The Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) in the Helmholtz Association is an international biomedical research center dedicated to understanding the molecular mechanisms of health and disease with the goal to devise new diagnostics and medicines. The MDC is a member of the Helmholtz Association, Germany's largest scientific organization, and offers an engaging research environment with cutting-edge research infrastructure. Currently, ~1250 employees and ~500 guest scientists work at the Berlin‑Buch and Berlin‑Mitte campuses. Our diverse workforce is a core strength that inspires creativity and innovation at the MDC.

The scientific infrastructures support and enable a wide portfolio of technologies and methodologies by specialized scientific technology platforms, which are essential for the research approaches at the MDC. MDC researchers as well as technology platforms collaborate with Berlin based research and medical institutions and with leading international partner institutions and their respective infrastructures.
The MDC is seeking a highly motivated individual to support the scientific infrastructure management and work on specific projects in this context.


The tasks of the project manager include but are not limited to supporting the executive management and technology platform leaders in:

  • Conceptualizing and implementing principles for collaborations and strategic partnerships
  • Developing and implementing financial principles for internal and external partners and developing the required processes, workflows and controlling in collaboration with MDC departments
  • Aligning the portfolio of technology with regard to future developments and strategies of the MDC as well as with partners in Berlin and beyond
  • Conceptualizing and scouting for innovative models for partnerships

Applicants should have a degree in life sciences or medicine. Professional experience in the area of science management and/or communication is preferred for this position. Further requirements are:

  • In‑depth experience of working in core facilities and technology platforms and management requirements
  • Experience of funding schemes for investments and grants with focus on scientific infrastructures and collaborations
  • Passion and service attitude for science and technology, self-motivation, proactive attitude, responsible and independent project handling
  • Experience of working for international research institutions and ability to effectively interact with multiple stakeholders on international and interdisciplinary levels
  • Motivation and interpersonal skills to interact with researchers and administrative staff
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Professional command of both spoken and written German and English
  • Effective multitasking and work on tight deadlines is a must

Salary
Remuneration will be according to the TVöD Bund, depending on the personal requirements, up to the fee group 13.
