The Technology Lead is a key leadership role in an S/4HANA Finance Transformation project. The successful candidate will not only drive the technological aspects of the project but also ensure that these efforts translate into tangible business benefits, aligning with the organization's strategic objectives.

This position involves leading a technical team, collaborating with various stakeholders, and ensuring that the project meets its objectives efficiently and effectively. The role demands a deep understanding of S/4HANA, ERP systems, SAP Activate Methodology and the broader IT landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning and Roadmap Development: Develop and reinforce a comprehensive technology roadmap that includes ERP preparation and implementation while focusing on architecture and system aspects. The planning may include digitization opportunities beyond ERP systems
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead all technical cross-topics teams (e.g. migration, data governance, integration, cutover and testing) while working closely with Project and Business Lead and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective execution of the project plan
  • Technology Implementation: Oversee the global rollout of the S/4HANA template with strong focus on group-wide architecture and systems, ensuring each country roll-out aligns with the business requirements and delivers the expected value
  • Vendor and Architecture Oversight: Collaborate with the leadership of System Integrators to assess target architecture, including evaluating current vendor/system integrator partnerships
  • Risk and Dependency Management: Manage technical standards, enterprise architecture, and data management while overseeing identity and access management
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain continuous communication with all program stakeholders, managing expectations and ensuring project alignment with business goals
  • Value Assurance: Ensure that the technology implementation amplifies business value, focusing on operational effectiveness and asset efficiency


  • Expertise in S/4HANA and ERP Systems: Profound knowledge (10+ years) of S/4HANA Finance or SAP ECC systems, with the ability to lead large-scale transformations
  • Strong Leadership Abilities: proven track record of leadership positions in similar environments, capable of managing diverse teams and multiple country rollouts simultaneously
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop strategic plans and make decisions that align with the project's goals and the organization's long-term vision
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical abilities to oversee implementation, identify risks, and provide solutions
  • Stakeholder Management: Skilled in engaging with and managing the expectations of various stakeholders, including senior leadership and external partners
  • Experience: Proven track record in managing technology transformations, preferably in retail or consumer goods industries
  • Educational Background: A degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field, with certification(s) in SAP S/4HANA being highly advantageous
  • Languages: Excellent command of English (written and spoken)
  • Living experience in Europe and working experience in a European-based company

Working Conditions

The Technology Lead may be required to travel to rollout countries or other locations as project needs dictate
