For our international safety team, we are looking for a

Health and Safety Expert Germany (m/f/d)

In this role, you will lead our operational teams to safety excellence. The safety of our people is the key responsibility and you can become an important part of that challenge.

You will join a team of approximately 10 Health and Safety Experts operating in different countries. Your focus will be on our different sites located in Germany and you will report to our Head of Health and Safety.

This position can be located on most of the ArcelorMittal sites in Germany as for example Hamburg, Bremen, Eisenhüttenstadt, Duisburg.


  • Manage, lead & drive risk awareness/assessment, health & safety operational excellence, and behavioral changes across AMDS, with a key focus on leadership & culture.
  • Actively engage with AMDS sites through regular meetings, visits, field observations, audits, inspections, reporting analysis, and improvement plans.
  • Design & provide training/workshops/coaching sessions, as well as regular reporting to Corporate AMDS.
  • Prepare and present a weekly situation update (with analysis and recommendations).
  • Define recommendations and drive performance improvement for optimal site implementation with our leaders and partners.
  • Be the contact expert for our Business Divisions to define priorities and solutions.
  • Contribute to our KPIs reporting system.
  • Ensure sharing all relevant REX with the AMDS Health and Safety community and Management, when necessary.
  • Any other activities may from time to time be required by management to improve the Health and Safety strategy, goals & expectations.

  • You have a Bachelor's/Master's degree in engineering/physics/chemistry (or related).
  • A Master's degree in Health & Safety from a leading school is a key asset.
  • Experience in safety, behavioral psychology, operational risks, and lean manufacturing.
  • Field and result-oriented
  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills and willingness to work with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent written communication and report-writing skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and active listening skills.
  • An eye for detail.
  • Ability to navigate IT tools.
  • Ability to motivate people to change their behavior.
  • Proven experience in a similar role.
  • Strong facilitator with experience in delivering H&S training sessions, coaching
  • Experience of working as part of a diverse and remote Team
  • You are fluent in German and English. Any additional language will be considered a plus
  • This position requests high flexibility – up to 90 % of business trips are required
