We are looking for a Senior Claims Specialist - Marine (m/f/d), based in Hamburg.

Your Team

As a Complex Claims Team, we are part of the Marine Claims department. We handle a variety of different claims in the Cargo and Hull divisions and are looking for a strong team player to complete our group.

The Impact You Will Have

You will report directly to the Head of Marine Complex Claims and proactively handle both administrative and substantive marine cargo claims, some of which are highly exposed and involve complex issues. You will ensure that claims are processed within the limits of responsibility and in accordance with the procedures and guidelines of the AGCS claims standards and regulatory requirements. In doing so, you will build and develop relationships with clients, brokers, underwriters and service providers to achieve commercial results and provide a high quality claims service.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

  • Investigating claims and reviewing complex national and international claims.

  • Proactively assessing coverage issues and determining appropriate loss reserves.

  • Negotiating and resolving complex claims and developing cost effective solutions.

  • Proactively advising clients on loss minimisation and travelling to client meetings.

  • Supporting legal disputes and managing external service providers such as experts and lawyers.

  • Entering claims data into Allianz claims systems and other administrative tasks and ensuring high data quality.

  • Reporting and creating a decision basis for complex claims and those outside your own authorisation.

  • Evaluating and implementing recoveries, taking cost efficiency into account.

  • Supporting the acquisition of new business and renewal negotiations as well as building close relationships with brokers and customers.


    • What You'll Bring to the Role

      • Several years of professional experience in claims handling, ideally in the area of marine cargo claims.

      • Sound technical knowledge and understanding of the legal and regulatory framework in national and international insurance law.

      • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

      • High degree of initiative, strategic thinking and customer-orientation.

      • Solution-orientated, structured and independent way of working.

      • Good team spirit.
