Europe Space Centre GmbH is the European subsidiary of Shetland Space Centre Ltd, operating SaxaVord Spaceport on Unst, in Shetland. SaxaVord Spaceport is Europe's gateway to space and will be hosting the first vertical launches from Europe in 2024.
To further support the European space industry, we are building a global ground station network to offer ground station services and ground station hosting services.
As we gear up to our launch cadence and are growing our global ground station network, we are looking for a ground station system engineer to increase our presence in our German office based in Taufkirchen (Germany). You will join a highly motivated and driven team, aiming to provide services and facilities to the European space ecosystem, providing resilient, cost efficient and safe access to space as well as ground station facilities and services. You feel comfortable in our positive and “can do” corporate culture that will allow you to grow both professionally and personally. As a person, you aim to take ownership of your responsibilities and support your colleagues and team members.
As part of your role, you will be responsible for maintaining all antenna assets (owned or hosted) at the different ground station sites and ensure full functionality throughout their respective life cycle. You will further develop maintenance plans and schedules as well as interact with suppliers to provide maintenance services as well as with clients with regards to maintenance requirements and needs.
Manage and conduct preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on antenna assets: Planning of maintenance with all stakeholders, Conducting or coordinating maintenance, Post-maintenance reporting
Technical point of contact with antenna manufacturer and antenna operators
Maintain, update and implement documents including maintenance and installation procedures
Support ground station team on hardware procurement
Support ground station team on software development projects and scheduling
Support ground station team capability expansion
Degree in engineering
4-7 years of relevant experience
Experience in project orientated working environment
Experience in ground station engineering and maintenance management
Natural comfort in interacting with clients, partners, counterparts
Comfortable in working within regulated environment and dealing with institutions or regulatory bodies
Prepared for regular travelling
Fast learning and good understanding of both technical and administrative topics and developments
Stress resilience and ability to prioritise and keep timelines without losing attention to details
Confidential and trustworthy: able to value and handle confidential information
Team-worker but capable to work independently
Great sense of humour
Fluent English. Additional language preferable
