Doctoral Researcher – Innovations in Warehouse Technology and Management

At the Chair of Material Handling and Warehousing, one scientific employee position is available starting at the earliest possible date for a period of three years. According to public tariff regulations, the salary is based on group E13 TV-L. Employment in part-time is possible. We provide the opportunity of writing a dissertation.
  • Research into the development of Industry 4.0 systems in (intra-)logistics
  • Elaboration of high-quality contributions, publication in scientific journals and presentation at (inter-)national conferences
  • Participation in the development of research proposals for new ideas and technological developments
  • Teaching: preparing and holding lectures and tutorials in the field of logistics (max. 4 SWS)

  • (Very) well completed scientific university degree (Master's or equivalent) in industrial engineering, logistics, mechanical engineering, (business) informatics, computer science, electrical engineering, statistics or a comparable field of study
  • Knowledge of common MS Office applications and IT affinity
  • Interest in working independently and making a scientific contribution
  • Commitment and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team
  • Good communication skills in German and English

Possible focus areas and ideal skills:
  • Warehouse management, digital twin, cyber-physical systems, blockchain technology, Artificial Intelligence, gamification
  • Knowledge in the field of (intra-)logistics
  • Programming skills (e.g. Python or C#)

  • A state-of-the-art research center on 630 sqm incl. mobile robots, drones, laser systems and high-performance computers
