TUI Cruises is one of the leading cruise operators in the German-speaking region. The joint venture between TUI AG and the U.S. cruise group Royal Caribbean Group Ltd. employs around 750 people in Hamburg and Berlin and operates 12 cruise ships. The 6 ships of the Mein Schiff® fleet offer contemporary vacation travel at sea in the premium segment. With 5 ships, the long-established Hapag-Lloyd Cruises brand stands for luxury and expedition cruises.

The company already has one of the most modern and environmentally and climate-friendly cruise fleets in the world. In the course of sustainable growth, three more new ships are planned until 2026.

TUI Cruises is looking for a full-time intern to start as on September 1st 2024 at its Hamburg site:

Intern Fleet Energy Performance and Data Science (all gender)


  • Support in improving the energy efficiency of the fleet through onboard and shore support in terms of fuel optimization and performance enhancement.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the energy dashboards database.
  • Manage and evaluate issues in collaboration with the ship's management with regard to energy efficiency key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Support interface development and backend algorithms relevant to operational excellence.
  • Work closely with the Fleet Energy Performance Manager and other internal departments.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize energy efficiency through the use of new and existing technologies and/or operational excellence practices in the areas of mechanical, electrical and hydrodynamics, among others.
  • Support the development of a long-term energy technology investment strategy for the company, in line with the Net Zero initiative and carbon reduction regulations.

  • Has completed or is enrolled in a a Bachelor's, Master's program in Business/Management, Statistics, Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Econometrics, Business Analytics, Computer Science or any other Quantitative field
  • Good command over SQL, Python and Power BI
  • Interest in ML modelling/Data science
  • Familiar with SCM tools (like git) and IDEs (like vscode)
  • Knowledge or interest in Fuel, Energy, Consumption, Emissions
  • Data-driven & analytical, with strong attention to details
  • Passionate about breaking down complex analytical problems, and ability to delivery with incremental iterations
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Very good at communicating & creating compelling narrative with data storytelling to business stakeholders
  • Curious, quick learner, team player and who loves to think outside the box
