Our medical robotics team at ZEISS is looking for a highly motivated intern to contribute to research and development in robotics for next-generation medical applications. Your Role

  • Develop and test concepts for medical robotics, robot-assisted surgery

  • Work on robotics, sensor signal processing and fusion, creation of models from sensor inputs, machine learning

  • Evaluate concepts both in simulation and on real setups, get hands-on experience with robotics in the medical field

  • Conduct experiments in our robotics laboratory

  • Present and discuss research findings in team and department meetings

  • Work closely with experts in robotics, sensor signal processing, modeling, and medical technology, as part of an international project

  • Work with researchers and engineers in a collaborative environment at the ZEISS Innovation Hub Karlsruhe, right on site of the KIT-campus north


  • You are enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in computer science, electrical engineering, or mechatronics (preferably) - Alternatively, in biomedical engineering, physics, or comparable
  • You have basic knowledge in robotics, modeling, and sensor processing

  • You have programming knowledge in at least one of the following: Python, ROS, C++

  • Knowledge in optical sensing systems, optical coherence tomography, is a plus

  • Fluent English language skills

  • A hands-on mentality, an open mind, excellent problem-solving, communication and innovation skills

  • Passion for innovation and enthusiasm for innovative technologies as well as motivation to work in agile, interdisciplinary teams
