Credit analyst (Risk Underwriter) for Corporates – Trade Finance and Non-Trade Finance (m/f/d)*

Job Description

The Global Credit Solutions (GCS) team is writing business mainly with global banks by insuring credit risks originated by the banks, where the GCS team assumes the role of a primary insurer. Your role as Risk Underwriter (RUW) is to support the GCS team with the risk analysis of corporate obligors and the assessment of complex transaction structures (corporate trade finance and non-trade finance) as well as to take or prepare independent credit decisions in conjunction with the Client Relationship & Risk Manager (CRRM).


  • Independently analyse the creditworthiness of corporate obligors and evaluate complex financing structures in the field of corporate trade finance and non-trade (un)secured lending - both in the context of single risk as well as portfolio transactions (the latter with focus on underwriting quality of the bank)
  • Prepare internal credit applications, making informed recommendations and providing internal stakeholders with reasoned explanations for decisions
  • Determine the maximum risk appetite for major individual risks and large single transactions involving multiple cedents
  • Monitor existing (sub) portfolios; to identify significant risks at an early stage and initiate appropriate risk measures
  • Cooperate closely with CRRM and participate in client meeting on specific deals or due diligence purposes
  • Assist with the examination and development of strategic growth initiatives and new business opportunities
  • Support efforts to enhance existing tools, credit risk management systems and processes

  • University degree, preferably in business or economics or with a scientific focus, or equivalent training (banking traineeship followed by relevant further education)
  • Several years' professional experience in the field of corporate risk analysis and corporate finance; experience in emerging markets (esp. Asia) is a great advantage
  • Strong product knowledge in the field of corporate trade finance (e.g. receivables and payables finance) is a great advantage
  • In-depth knowledge of credit risk management in banks (incl. rating methodologies) and a keen interest in economic, political and regulatory topics (especially ESG)
  • Excellent analytical skills combined with a pronounced risk awareness and sense of responsibility, independent and result-oriented working style, ability to justify decisions in a clear and comprehensible manner
  • Strong team player and confident demeanour, able to contribute in a dynamic and collaborative environment
  • Sound conduct of MS-Office (especially Excel and Power BI)
  • Very good written and verbal command of English; additional business-relevant languages are an advantage
