DEW Engineering provides a wide range of services and products to our military and commercial customers including: design, test and evaluation, prototyping and development, and manufacturing.

CoorsTek is looking for a

Business Development Manager (m/f/d) Aerospace & Defense

to assist DEW Engineering. The successful candidate will be an employee of CoorsTek and will work remotely.

As the Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for generating incremental DEW Engineering business including building and maintaining relationships within accounts, acquiring new business, and supporting company-wide growth strategies. You will identify and drive new sales opportunities with existing and new customers through the customer pathway.


  • Identify, develop, and maintain business growth opportunities with customers. Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing key customer contacts including design engineers, scientists, buyers, program managers, and executives.
  • Develop short- and long-term commercial opportunity pipeline for new and existing markets and accounts.
  • Identify new markets ceramics should be actively engaged in. Work with regional and vertical leaders as well as strategic insights to develop a market penetration strategy.
  • Drive new product development and growth activities including:
    • Initiate, develop and define key customer / market requirements
    • Act as technical consultant / liaison to customer teams
    • Communicate customer needs to the broader DEW Engineering organization including engineering and manufacturing teams
    • Match customer needs with the best fit DEW Engineering factories
    • Drive data supported internal decision-making on long term growth investments including capital equipment and R&D programs
  • Develop strategies to meet and exceed increased revenue and profitability goals, including account specific plans and play a lead role in successfully closing business deals.
  • May include contract and commercial negotiations.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of market conditions / trends and customer needs.
  • Create a collaborative effort between DEW Engineering sales, engineering and manufacturing to deliver what customers need and actively grow the business.
  • Create demand for DEW Engineering armor products and solutions through proactive selling and education of customers through proposals and other forums.
  • Build a positive DEW Engineering reputation throughout the market via activities such as trade shows, advertising, strategic partnering and participation with industry organizations.
  • Adhere to all environmental, health and safety regulations and follow the environmental and quality management systems.

Education and experience:

  • Bachelors' Degree in Ceramics, Materials Science, Metallurgy or another equivalent field preferred.
  • Seven (7) years of technical sales experience, preferably in ceramics / composites armor or advanced materials.
  • Experience includes working within the Defense industry to armor applications, threat levels and customer demands, including involvement in Defense industry organizations.
  • Full regional understanding of Department of Defense budgets from all relevant country budgets. Full understanding of strategic planning with respect to potential Defense budgets from a prime contract standpoint.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute extremely complex sales or account management process.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to achieve a deep understanding of the full range of DEW Engineering products and market segments.
  • Strong financial acumen.
  • Ability to manage through uncertain environments while identifying new business opportunities.
  • Strong organizational skills and great attention to detail.
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in working with diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Role specific details:

  • Preferred locations: United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands, Czechia. Other locations within Europe will also be considered.
  • Preferred languages: fluent in English, French, and German.
  • Travel: ability to travel greater than 50 % of the time to customer locations to promote new products, resolve customer problems, and to represent the company at trade shows and conferences, etc.
  • Clearance: due to the nature of armor products and the potential customers, candidates must be eligible and able to acquire and keep any valid security clearance required to access protected information relating to the above-described responsibilities and duties.
