To further strengthen our team in the field of geodata analysis at our headquarters in Munich, we are looking for a

Geospatial Data Scientist
with focus on remote sensing for the processing and analysis of geospatial data.

The results of our work are used by authorities, companies and in science worldwide for further analysis and decisionmaking. Using our data analysis capabilities, we provide thematic and statistical information at various spatial reference levels locally and globally. Processing large volumes of satellite data with innovative analysis methods in cloud infrastructures has been indispensable for several years and enables, for example, the creation of land cover products on a continental scale as part of the EU‘s Copernicus program.


  • Development of methodologies for deriving information from satellite, climate and other geospatial data
  • Developing together with your team members (Data Scientists, Software Developers and DevOps Engineers) highly efficient data analytics workflows for the derivation of spatial data sets in raster and vector format based on satellite data and represent these to stakeholders such as project managers and customers
  • Evaluating and testing of new technologies and assessing them in terms of their benefit for the company

  • A master's degree in Science or Engineering, such as Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, Computer Science, Data Science or similar
  • At least two years of professional experience after university in developing methods and software for the exploration of geographic raster and vector data.
  • Comprehensive experience with remote sensing and geodata, in particular with Sentinel-2 satellite data
  • Knowledge of ML and DL methods for regression analysis, image segmentation, image classification and object detection
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Python
  • Profound experience with software development tools like Git, PyCharm or VSCode
  • Very good spoken and written English skills
  • Ability to work in a cross functional team with a broad variety of technical skills within an open and creative work environment

Desirable knowledge:

  • Knowledge about GIS software such as QGIS, SNAP
  • Familiarity with databases preferably PostgreSQL
  • Experience with cloud development and CI/CD (Docker, K8s, Airflow, Jenkins)
  • Experience with WSL and basic Linux commands

Further information:

Full-time, 40 hours per week and starting as at the earliest possible date. Initially limited to 2 years, with a subsequent option for a permanent contract. Please note that only applicants with German work permit can be considered.
