Job Description

Tacalyx is a biopharmaceutical company developing innovative therapeutics to target tumor-associated carbohydrate antigens (TACAs). To strengthen our team in Berlin-Adlershof, we are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and self-driven Senior Scientist/Group Leader (m/f/d) Antibody and Protein Biochemistry.

The major focus of this position is the design, expression, characterization and chemical modification of antibodies and other proteins.


  • Molecular cloning and expression of recombinant proteins in prokaryotic and mammalian cells
  • Organization and conduction of antibody generation projects (e.g., phage display, hybridoma, B-cell cloning, etc.)
  • Planning and management of the production of antibodies in different formats (e.g., ADC, bispecific)
  • Design and performance of antibody binding assays (e.g., ELISA, Western blot, tailored arrays, SPR)
  • Chemical and enzymatic modification of mAbs (e.g., mAb fragmentation, coupling to solid supports or proteins)
  • Characterization of antibody preparations (e.g., integrity, activity, stability)
  • Preparation of scientific reports and maintenance of the current state of scientific literature
  • Collaboration in project teams working on the development of antibodies towards first in human studies
  • Management and monitoring of projects with external parties (e.g., CROs, academic groups)

  • PhD in the field of biological sciences with recent, extensive research laboratory experience
  • 2+ years of relevant experience after your PhD in academics or industry
  • Hands-on experience with techniques relevant for recombinant protein expression
  • Knowledge about antibody production in mammalian cells is expected (experience with ADC or bispecifics is a plus)
  • Strong background in antibody technologies and biochemical characterization, knowledge of antibody humanization would be a plus
  • Physical experience with different protein chromatography techniques is mandatory (knowledge in HPLC-based method development would be an asset)
  • Knowledge of carbohydrate biology would be an asset
  • A high level of communication in English and a work permit for Germany (for non-EU applicants) are mandatory
