We are looking for a talented Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team in Berlin. In this critical role, you will manage day-to-day accounting and reporting activities, collaborating closely with the multiple teams: various teams in the Berlin office, our headquarters in Amsterdam and teams across the world. You'll be responsible for delivering accurate data, performing monthly analysis, and identifying opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency.
These are some of the key ingredients to the role:
- Statutory Reporting: Prepare and manage statutory reporting for our German entities, ensuring full compliance with local and international standards.
- Management Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts, balance sheet accounts, journal entries.
- Analysis: Ability to investigate differences in primary financial statements (Balance Sheet, P&L, Cashflow statement etc) and underlying movement tables.
- Technical Accounting: Provide guidance on accounting and reporting regulations, particularly IFRS and German GAAP, to ensure consistent and accurate practices.
- Audit Support: Assist with external and internal auditors during audits and implement recommendations as necessary.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to financial regulations and internal policies.
- Ad Hoc Projects: Contribute to special projects and process improvements aimed at enhancing processes and automation within the group.
- Stakeholder Support: Offer financial insights and information to internal stakeholders (payroll, tax, etc.), helping them make informed decisions.
- 5-8 years of relevant experience in general ledger accounting, auditing, or similar roles in a fast-paced, multinational environment.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, or related field, with a professional qualification preferred (e.g., CPA, ACCA or equivalent).
- Strong technical accounting skills including IFRS and a solid understanding of German GAAP.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and expertise in ERP systems, advanced skills in Excel.
- Experience with payroll and a working knowledge of taxation (VAT and CIT are a
- plus).
- Ability to analyse complex financial data and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to plan, organise and drive results.
- Self-starter attitude, comfortable with change and thriving in fast-paced environments.
- Positive, proactive attitude with a strong work ethic.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and influence key stakeholders.
- Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken, is essential.
