Being part of HSBC in Berlin, you'll help evolve and grow our business as a Corporate Associate (m/f/d) Tech Coverage Team.

Commercial Banking (CMB) serves millions of businesses, from small enterprises and mid-market companies to large multinationals, in developed and faster-growing markets around the world. We provide the services and expertise that businesses need to thrive. Commercial Banking has a network that covers three-quarters of global trade flows, providing businesses with banking solutions in home markets and overseas. These cover areas as diverse international payments and liquidity management, FX and risk hedging, working capital finance, trade and receivables finance, term loans, leveraged acquisition finance, and capital markets advisory.

Within CMB, we have a dedicated high growth technology coverage practice delivering financial solutions to some of the most innovative and entrepreneurial companies in the world. This coverage team focuses on venture capital (VC) backed companies operating in Germany and Austria and currently seeks an associate who will become a key contributor to the ambitious agenda of this practice.   • Supporting the team's acquisition of new relationships with VC backed companies.
  • Growing the relationship with existing clients through persistent engagement
  • Taking ownership of the day-to-day activities, including managing client onboarding, customer due diligence, opening accounts and implementation of new products.
  • Working with product colleagues, particularly Global Payment Solutions (GPS), Markets and Securities Services (MSS), Global Trade and Receivables Finance (GTRF) and Global Private Banking (GPB).
  • Preparing analysis and presentations to pitch solutions to new and existing customers.
  • Supporting discussions around credit proposals with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Cooperating closely with Risk and Compliance to identify, defuse and escalate potential risks that could cause legal, regulatory or reputational harm to the bank.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate maintenance of customer and pipeline information on relevant systems
  • Showing initiative by tackling and resolving a variety of obstacles preventing smooth operations in this specific client segment
  • Seeking out new relationships with relevant contacts within the tech industry, such as founders, CFOs, finance professionals and investors.
  • Staying on top of market developments, such as current equity raises.
  • Building a strong reputation for HSBC within the tech industry by attending events and networking
  • Collaborating with HSBC Innovation Banking.
  • Support achievement of the HSBC vision, values, goals and culture in personal behavior, actions and decision making
  • Develop and recommend changes and improvements to operating models, procedures and practices based on subject matter expertise and understanding of HSBC and market best practice.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, finance, economics or relevant field.
  • Hands-on attitude being able to cope with a wide range of different requirements due to the fact of small team.
  • Knowledge of financial structures, products, and procedures
  • Knowledge of the changing economic, social, and governmental environment as well as knowledge of Tech landscape in Germany and Austria
  • Strong understanding of risk management and credit mitigants and strong credit knowledge
  • Ability to anticipate clients' needs and tailor service delivery.
  • Proven record in decision making.
  • Proven ability to work with a variety of levels including senior executives both internal and within client hierarchies.
  • Strong ‘team' skills promoting an environment of co-operation and trust, overcoming resistance where encountered.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills
  • Good prioritizing, organizational and time management abilities
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Perfect English Language is a must. German language is a preference, as role would increase in difficulty with lack of German knowledge.
