With a fleet of 287 modern container ships and a Vessel Capacity 2.2 million TEU, as well as a Container Capacity 3.2 million TEU including one of the world's largest and most modern reefer container fleets, Hapag-Lloyd is one of the world's leading liner shipping companies. The roughly 2.600 employees assigned to the Terminal & Infrastructure segment deal with terminal-related activities and provide complementary logistics services at selected locations.


This role will bridge our agile and traditional (waterfall) IT landscapes, ensuring seamless IT portfolio management across both established approaches. You will work closely with IT domain heads and cluster leads, fostering successful delivery of strategic epics and projects throughout their lifecycle. Acting as a trusted partner, you'll enable alignment between strategy and execution, ensuring initiatives deliver maximum value to the business.
  • Design, refine and roll out PPM Governance Frameworks across the Hapag-Lloyd IT
  • Continuous alignment with key Business Stakeholders, IT Domain Heads, Cluster Leads and IT Program and Project Managers
  • Facilitate & coordinate the creation and establishment of portfolio Epics and Projects overview / pipeline and match it against HL Strategy and priorities, promoting and enabling data driven investment decisions
  • Ongoing review and tracking of portfolio health and risks
  • Supply supporting departments such as Procurement, HR, Legal or DPO with effort forecasts
  • Closely work together with Enterprise architecture and product domains on establishment of Project/Epic scoping and business case creation
  • Monitor & apply quality control throughout the end-to-end lifecycle of IT portfolio epics and projects across agile and waterfall environments
  • Partner with IT domain heads and cluster leads to align portfolio initiatives with strategic goals
  • Facilitate portfolio planning, prioritization, and decision-making processes
  • Ensure transparent tracking and reporting of portfolio progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve roadblocks and manage dependencies across domains
  • Drive continuous improvement in portfolio governance, balancing agility with control
  • Support resource allocation and capacity planning to optimize project and epic delivery
  • Act as a strategic advisor, providing insights and recommendations for portfolio optimization

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in IT portfolio management, program management, or a similar role
  • Strong understanding of both agile (e.g., SAFe, Scrum) and waterfall project management methodologies
  • Experience working with senior leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in portfolio management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, MS Project, or similar)
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and facilitation skills. You feel comfortable moderating and coordinating larger groups of business and IT stakeholders
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to balance strategic thinking with execution
  • Experience with the balancing of portfolio management and agile product organization
  • Independent and responsible working style as well as good team player skills
  • Ability and willingness to lead and motivate
  • You can think strategically and bring transparency into complex subjects
  • You have an open-mindset, creativity and a certain entrepreneurial spirit to help ramping up a new function and team
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills
  • Fluent in English; German is a plus
