Director Strategy Development, Production & SCM (m/f/x)

The position:

The Director Strategy Development, Production & SCM (m/f/x) reports to the Head of Tech Strategy and plays a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the Tech Unit.
This role is responsible for developing and implementing mid- to long-term plans and Tech Unit wide strategies across regions and functions focusing on critical areas such as drug development, manufacturing and manufacturing network, resource planning, digitalization, ESG, and business model innovation. The role also supports the implementation of special assignments requested by the Tech Unit Head or CEO.
This position requires a strategic mindset, exceptional project management skills, and the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.


  • Assist in developing and proposing mid-/long-term plans for approval by the Head of Tech Strategy and Planning, ensuring alignment with Tech Unit priorities and Daiichi Sankyo Group goals.
  • Support the development and implementation of Tech Unit-wide strategies across regions and functions, covering areas such as DX/IT, ressource planning, budget, CAPEX, cost planning, environmental responsibility and manufacturing network optimization.
  • Draft and execute mid-/long-term strategies related to modality portfolio prioritization and platformization, new business models and roadmaps, including feasibility evaluations.
  • Monitor the progress of strategic initiatives, adapting plans as necessary in response to internal or external changes.
  • Monitor the progress of major CAPEX projects and serve as a PMO.
  • Provide input on Tech Unit perspectives and align with internal and external stakeholders on strategic topics
  • Lead or contribute to special assignments requested by the Tech Strategy, Tech S&P as well as Tech Unit Head or CEO, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
  • Support the Head of Tech Strategy as well as Tech Strategy and Planning in resource planning, business planning and monitoring, support of human resource development, and strategy execution.
  • Support the Head of DSE Tech as DSE local staff.

Travel requirements:

Percentage of overseas work: up to 30%.
International collaboration and communication (face-to-face, electronic and teleconference/video conferencing) across all global time zones; international and domestic travel required.


  • University degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic planning, corporate strategy, or operations within a global organization.
  • Proven expertise in developing and executing multi-year plans and strategies.
  • Extensive knowledge of global pharmaceutical business, worldwide drug development, and supply chain
