  • Develop a digital eye twin that models the post treatment changes in the eye, from a biomechanical point of view

  • Evaluate simulation results against alternative modeling approaches and/or real experimental data

  • Conduct a literature search to identify approaches proposed in the state-of-the-art

  • Report and present your results

  • Work closely with application experts and digital eye twin concept

  • Work with other students, as well as researchers and engineers in a collaborative environment The position can be located either at the ZEISS Innovation Hub Dresden, close to the University Clinic, or the ZEISS Innovation Hub Karlsruhe, right on site of the KIT-campus north.


  • You are enrolled in a Bachelor/Master's program in Mechanical Engineering, Medical Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or comparable

  • You have basic knowledge of multi-physics simulation and structural mechanics concepts, as well as the finite element method

  • You have basic knowledge of the following programming languages: Python

  • Experience with Ansys is a plus

  • Fluent English language skills

  • A hands-on mentality, an open mind, excellent problem-solving, communication and innovation skills Passion for innovation and enthusiasm for innovative technologies as well as motivation to work in agile, interdisciplinary teams
