Head of R&D (m/w/d)
- Strategic Leadership: Drive the vision and strategy for the R&D department, aligning with NeoPredics goals for innovation, clinical impact, and scalability.
- Product Development: Lead and manage the development lifecycle of new and existing predictive healthcare tools, including PreFree and bilirubin prediction products, ensuring clinical relevance and data-driven efficacy. Develop a product roadmap.
- Hands-On Tech Development: Actively lead and contribute to the development lifecycle of new and existing predictive decision support tools.
- Applied Data Science Expertise: Bring extensive, practical experience in machine learning and AI specifically for SaMD applications. Develop and test robust, validated algorithms that meet clinical needs in real-world settings.
- Research Excellence: Oversee clinical research programs, collaborate with scientific advisors, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and ethical guidelines.
- Collaboration & Partnership: Establish and maintain strong partnerships with academic, clinical, and industry stakeholders, fostering collaborative innovation and research.
- Contribute to project team for software development
- Continually review and improve existing and new algorithms
- Team Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing R&D team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, scientific curiosity, and teamwork.
- Data Science & Analytics: Oversee data strategy, including machine learning and predictive modeling, to ensure robust, validated algorithms power our solutions.
- IP: Create new IP, oversee current IP portfolio, be point of contact for any internal and external IP related topics
- Quality and Regulatory: Responsible process owner for all R&D relevant processes. Responsible for ISO 13485, MDR and FDA compliance
- Data security: Overall responsibility for data protection, patient data safety and IT security
- PhD or advanced degree in Biomedical Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field, with a focus on healthcare technology
- Medical device industry experience
- Extensive experience in machine learning and artificial intelligence in life sciences
- Proven experience leading R&D teams, particularly within the healthcare or biotech sectors, with a strong track record in digital health or predictive analytics.
- Extensive knowledge of clinical research methodologies, product development cycles, and healthcare data science.
- Familiarity with regulatory environments for healthcare products, including experience with CE marking or FDA processes.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience in algorithm development, predictive modeling, and machine learning.
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Data Science Mastery: 5+ years in applied machine learning, specifically for regulated AI-based medtech products. Proven success in bringing AI-based SaMD to market.
- Analytical Excellence: Demonstrated experience in developing algorithms with clinical impact. Strategic sense of how data science can drive business and product success.
