ATLAS MARIDAN ApS is a Danish company with branches in Germany.
The Danish site develops, integrates, tests, repairs and maintains unmanned vehicles (UxVs), primarily autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs).
Offshore exploration tasks (surveying operations) and the central management of research and development are carried out by the German branches.
We are active nationally and internationally in the areas of:
- Offshore site investigations with a primary focus on offshore renewables
- Geophysical surveys specialized in the detection of unexploded ordnances
- Ultra-high-resolution seismic surveys
- Development, manufacturing, repair, maintenance, integration, and testing of autonomous, uncrewed maritime vehicles (UxV)
An experienced team is available to handle various projects. The technical staff includes engineers specialising in process engineering, hydrographic engineering and geodesy as well as natural scientists from the fields of geology, geotechnics and geophysics.
The newly established development unit AIMS (Artificial Intelligence Marine Systems) within ATLAS Maridan ApS, a subsidiary of ATLAS ELEKTRONIK GmbH, is a dynamic team dedicated to developing innovative solutions based on artificial intelligence. This independent development department is located within a startup ecosystem in the heart of Bremen.

As a Senior Data Scientist / AI Developer at AIMS, you will be a key player in the development of innovative AI technologies for maritime applications. Your expertise in data analysis, machine learning, and AI model development will contribute to our goal of revolutionizing marine systems. You will work closely with a dedicated team, engaging in research, development, and the practical application of AI-driven solutions in the maritime sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement AI algorithms for maritime systems, focusing on machine learning, deep learning, and predictive analytics.
- Analyze large and complex datasets collected from autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), ships, and other maritime platforms.
- Train, validate, and deploy AI models for tasks such as autonomous navigation, object detection, and environmental data analysis.
- Collaborate with other team members on AI projects, contributing to the development of new ideas and approaches for maritime technology.
- Assist in the evaluation and selection of tools and platforms for AI development, data processing, and data visualization.
- Support the AI team with hands-on data analytics, coding, and deployment of machine learning solutions.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in AI and machine learning to ensure AIMS remains at the cutting edge of maritime AI technology.
- Extensive experience in AI development or data science, with a focus on machine learning and data analytics.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, C++, or MATLAB, along with hands-on experience in machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to work with large, unstructured datasets.
- Practical experience in deploying AI models to production environments.
- Additional knowledge in signal processing, computer vision, or robotics is highly desirable.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
- Fluency in both German and English, with excellent communication skills.
