Motivation of the work: We are in search of a motivated, inquisitive, and results-oriented individual to contribute to our mechatronics activities within our newly formed AgTech department. ZEISS started a large strategic initiative to leverage our capabilities to bring labor automation solutions to high-end greenhouses, with an initial focus on robotics. Therefore, we established a dedicated team to drive this effort with a start-up like mindset within ZEISS. We offer:

  • Gain hands-on experience in mechatronics with state-of-the-art prototypes tested under real-world conditions

  • Option for subsequent master thesis Primary responsibilities include:

  • Prototyping of adaptive 3D camera vision systems for real-time scene understanding in a greenhouse environment

  • Integration of the prototype onto a mobile platforms and/or robotic arms, including next-best scan planning developed by our Machine Learning Team

  • Evaluation and upgrade of the prototypes following test campaigns in greenhouses under varying conditions

  • Support overall R&D activities, discuss & challenge new ideas


  • You are enrolled in a Master's program in Mechatronics, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering or comparable subject and have excellent results

  • First experience in prototyping, affinity for programming is a plus

  • Excellent organization, problem-solving, communication (English and/or German) and innovation skills

  • Passion for innovation and enthusiasm for new technologies as well as motivation to work in agile, interdisciplinary team
