Sumitomo Corporation conducts worldwide trading in commodities and energy from its locations in Tokyo, Singapore, London, and New York, providing access to markets in these locations on a global basis virtually around the clock.
SCMI GmbH (SCMI), based in Düsseldorf, Germany, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Tokyo-based Japanese trading company Sumitomo Corporation.
We are an energy trading company dedicated to the integration of renewables into the power system through short-term power trading. Our asset management includes renewable assets and flexible assets such as batteries and biogas CHPs. With a commitment to innovation and sustainability, we leverage highly automated trading processes and cutting-edge AI algorithms. We collaborate closely with our Gas & Power Trading Desk in the UK, which operates across several European markets.

- Provide legal support to our trading operations in Germany and the UK.
- Drafting and reviewing contracts (e.g., asset management contracts) and other legal documents.
- Focus on our operations in Germany.
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on relevant energy laws, respective relevant laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Support the legal team in various administrative tasks.
- Fully qualified and authorised to practice law in Germany.
- Acquaintance with energy law a strong plus, high interest in energy trading industry a must.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- General understanding of economic issues.
- Willingness to learn and develop expertise in other jurisdictions, particularly English law.
- Analytical and research skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
