As Head of Controlling Microsurgery (MCS), you will be responsible for overseeing all financial performance, planning, decision-making, reporting, and governance practices. You will ensure the short and long-term financial health of the business by providing real-time data and serving as a key advisor to the SBU, Business Sectors and MED Segment in a rapidly changing economic landscape. While you will formally report to the CFO of Carl Zeiss Meditec AG, your day-to-day interaction will be with the Strategic Business Unit (SBU)/Business Sector Management. The primary tasks that you will be responsible for are:

Supervise and direct the financial performance for the global operations of the SBU MCS, giving support and recommendations to the CFO of the MED Segment, the SBU Head, and the three Business Sector Heads

Establish KPI and reporting frameworks that can be updated in real time to showcase the effectiveness and progress made by the business functions. Enact corrective measures should there be notable deviations

Direct and control the budget process and planning cycles, together with sales and service companies (SSCs), operations, the Business Sectors and central functions in the SBU; ensuring it is completed in accordance with operational requirements and appropriately reflects the SBU strategy

Conduct financial Due Diligence and offer advice on M&A and post-merger integration

Supply forward-thinking forecasts and estimations, trend assessments and scenario formulation, even in cases of partially unknown information, to handle uncertainty and quickly activate appropriate actions

Develop financial policies and processes for the SBU MCS providing oversight into the development and integration of financial systems and internal controls, in compliance with MED´s framework

Drive the design and implementation of all financial and commercial processes related to new business models like XaaS, subscriptions, etc….

Assess full portfolio of business risks and assure proper Risk Reporting to the Group

Support strategic initiatives, evaluate opportunities for investment or divestment, swiftly switch between working modes (growth, resilience, downsizing) and enable respective decision-making

Leading and inspiring employees, recognizing skill sets and personal motivation patterns, guaranteeing team upskilling, alignment and preparedness for proposed assignments and projects

Master's degree in finance, accounting, controlling or related field; a postgraduation, MBA, and/or CPA is highly preferred

A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in finance and controlling areas, with no less than 5 years at the Management level including leadership experience

Comprehensive understanding of organizational financial setups and interconnections; project management skills

Comfort with navigating relevant metrics and KPIs such as EBITA, Market Contribution, EVA, Cash-Flow, TWF

Proficiency in understanding external macroeconomic events and changes, recognizing their relevant impacts on the business, and converting them into necessary responses

Understanding of Due Diligence methods, M&A processes, and Post-Merger Integration

Strong leadership skills and the ability to build diverse and high performing teams

Remarkable interpersonal and intercultural skills collaborating effortless across cultures and borders

Clear communicator with a diverse communication skill set, navigating in multiple settings and proficiency in influencing as well as resolving conflicts and issues

Fluent in English, German would be a plus
