Job Description

Based on our mission of “impactful, agile auditing that really matters!”, the division Group Audit provides independent, objective assurance and advice to numerous clients (e.g. Audit Committees, Boards of Management, Senior Leaders within Munich Re Group). As part of the Global Audit Community, Group Audit acts as center of competence to assess whether processes, structures, systems in the various departments like Underwriting, Claims, Accounting etc. fulfil internal and external requirements and recommends improvements in processes and controls. To support our audits in the area of data analytics, we have a dedicated team of data analysts who use various tools and methods to extract, transform and analyse data from different sources.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Analyst Intern to join our audit team. As a Data Analyst Intern, you will assist in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting large data sets to help identify anomalies, trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data analysis and auditing, and to develop your skills in a dynamic and supportive environment. Becoming an intern in Group Audit will provide you the chance to gain insights into the processes and work practices of different departments of the whole international reinsurance group.

Your internship can be full- or part-time and should last ideally six months.


Support the MR Group Audit team in regular audit activities and projects:

  • Assist in data extraction, cleaning, and analysis using various tools and techniques
  • Develop and maintain databases, spreadsheets, and other data management systems
  • Analyze data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement
  • Create reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders
  • Collaborate with audit team members to identify and assess risks, and to develop audit plans
  • Develop and maintain documentation of data analysis and audit procedures

  • Currently pursuing a degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, or economics
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to work accurately
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and ability to learn new software and tools quickly
  • Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Python
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with auditing concepts and principles is a plus
  • Fluency in English (additional languages are a plus)
